Our Queen Shirley Chisholm was the 1st black woman elected to the U.S. Congress, where she represented New York's 12th congressional district from 1969 to 1983. In 1972, she announced her historic run for the White House, and the slogan, "UNBOUGHT & UNBOSSED" was on her campaign posters.
